The goal of the Cancer Biology (CANB) Graduate Program is to train the next generation of cancer biologists to make significant contributions to basic, clinical and translational research.

We offer training over a broad based, integrating molecular, cellular, biochemical, and biological experimental approaches. For a customized dissertation experience, students are offered broad and focused advanced courses, seminars, discussions and hands-on research opportunities in areas of tumor microenvironment, metastasis, cancer genetics, stem cells, gene therapy of cancer, pharmacology/toxicology, bioinformatics, signaling and tumor immunology.

Students are trained by talented and accomplished faculty mentors who are leading experts in the field. Training is supported resources from the University and the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB. Training is facilitated by state-of-the-art equipment and research and clinical facilities.
